"July is for Living"

July has always been one of my favorite months.  The weather turns warm, the days are long, and everything seems possible.

There are a million little things that make me think of July and a ton of traditions that come with it.  One July tradition that I can never miss is watching Rear Window with Jimmy Stewart and Grace Kelly.  The first time I watched that movie as a youngster was in July.  The film is also set in the middle of a sweltering New York summer.

If you've never watched Rear Window, I truly suggest it.  A photographer is stuck in his apartment after an accident that has left him in a full leg cast.  With his nurse and girlfriend as his only visitors he find himself spending quite a lot of time watching the neighbors out his window.  Then, one night, he sees something he shouldn't have seen...
The suspense, the dialogue, sexy Grace Kelly, there are a million reasons to watch this film.  Try watching it this July and see what I mean.

What are some of your favorite summertime movies to watch?

dreamin about debbie

One of my personal music idols is Debbie Harry, also known as Blondie.  She was (is) an super sexy rock star with an extremely unique voice and style.  I've always been a huge fan of her work and vocal quality.  I used to be embarrassed by my breathy voice (one of my vocal chords works a little funny) but after discovering Debbie I realized that a breathy voice can't stop you as long as you have confidence in it.

Another thing that I'll always love about Ms. Harry is her fantastic style; highly feminine and yet rock and roll all the way.  She knew how to keep up with the boys without compromising.

I'm a culture vulture, and I just want to experience it all.

warhol time

I recently found a bunch of pictures from a workshop on an Andy Warhol piece that never happened.  The whole evenings work was a culmination of each individual performers character studies thus far.  Blah, blah, blah.  Anyway, that's not really the point.  The point is that these long lost pictures are effing beautiful so I thought I would share!

In my eyes and head and ears

The weather has been giving us a break for a few days here in Seattle.  The sun is shining, and it's actually in the 70s!  I almost don't know what to do, I feel guilty whenever I'm inside at all.  ::sigh::  Such is the plight of living in the Pacific Northwest.

Today the band is getting photos taken.  Apparently when you start doing shows regularly you also have to be able to promote yourself with images, ect.  I'm really not great at getting my picture taken.  At least, not in a "photo shoot" type setting.  Funnily enough between playing live, recording and album, and having my picture taken, the picture taken is probably the most challenging for me.

Oh well, no more whining.  What a thing to whine about, eh?

I think I'll be fine.  I know I'll have this song stuck in my head the whole time.  I've never been a big Teegan and Sarah fan, but this song has really caught me.  I think it's the piano part that I like.  Have a listen!

Family Adventures

Last week Anthony's moms were in town.  We spent nearly their entire trip visiting exciting places we had never been before!

Some of my favorite moments included seeing wolves!  And exploring a beach I had never been to.  There are so many more pictures and adventures to relate, but those will be fore a other time!

At Home Tourism

Anthony and I have family in town for the next 5 days.

I love when people I know come to Seattle because it gives me the chance to go see all the sites I never give myself time to see.

Today we're going to Northwest Trek, a wildlife preserve south of Seattle.  There we'll get to see much indigenous wildlife of the area.  It sounds like it's going to be fun.

Not to mention this is what will be in the back round the whole trip.

Now let's just hope the weather holds out.

I don't care what the weather report says

Summer is coming.  Even in a city like Seattle we can get in the spirit of summer.  It just has to be restricted to imagining that the sun is out...
